Indexing

Indexing

Indexing is the process by which a search engine adds a webpage to its database of crawled content, making it eligible to appear in search results. A page that is not indexed cannot rank. Indexing can be blocked intentionally through robots.txt or meta tags, or unintentionally through technical errors. Confirming that important pages are indexed is a foundational step in any SEO audit.
